Canadian National Team Hawks Asking For Support

Hi Hawks Community,

In case you didn’t know or haven’t met us yet, five Hawks coaches & Prem players are also members of the Canadian Women’s National Team (WNT) and Canadian Women’s National Indoor Team (WINT): Rowan Harris, Kat Leahy, Alison Lee, Madi Thompson & Elise Wong.

We are lucky to have such a great Hawks community supporting and cheering us on. As amateur athletes, unfortunately the financial burden of training for and competing in major tournaments often falls on our shoulders and we wanted to ask for your continued support in our current fundraisers.

Recently, WNT played our first international matches in over 2 years on a tour to San Diego, where we swept the USA in a 5-game series. In January, WNT is traveling to Santiago, Chile to compete in the Pan American Cup. As the 13th ranked team in the world and 2nd ranked team in the tournament, our goal is to finish in the top 3 and qualify for the 2022 World Cup, which would be our team’s first appearance since 1994.

In February, WINT is competing in the Indoor World Cup in Liège, Belgium. In order to qualify, our team competed at the Indoor Pan Am Cup in June 2021 and won silver despite having only trained together for 2 weeks due to COVID restrictions.

Currently, WNT needs to raise $35,000 by mid-January in order to get to Chile and WINT, which is a completely self-funded program, is looking at a $5000 levy per player for the World Cup.

Please, if you are able, consider making a donation to the WNT Back the Pack and/or WINT Mind the Skirt campaigns. Any amount counts! With your tax-deductible contributions, you will get recognition on our virtual donor wall, help us reach our fundraising incentives (which include 1-on-1 coaching sessions, stick giveaways & more), and help us achieve our dreams!

If you aren’t in a position to donate at the moment, please share our campaigns with your network and follow our journey on social media! @fhc_wnt & @fhc_indoorwomen

Thank you so much for your support!

Have a healthy and safe holidays,

Alison, Elise, Kat, Madi & Rowan

2021/2022 FHBC Fees

From Field Hockey BC (FHBC), June 25, 2021:
In consideration of the progressive removal of COVID-19 restrictions under BC’s ‘Restart 2.0’ program and with greater freedoms for both adult and youth field hockey participation expected post July 1st, both the FHBC Board of Directors and the FHC Board of Directors have agreed to offer an early bird incentive for those participants considering a return to field hockey activity ahead of the new season and for new participants to the sport of field hockey in BC. Any new registrations purchased on and after July 1st, 2021, are valid for the full 2021-22 season.

Vancouver Hawks will now be required to register and pay fees directly with FHBC rather than within the Hawks registration system. This change will simplify the administration of fees for our club and help reduce errors, ensuring each member has a valid FHBC #. The FHBC # is important as it provides your insurance coverage for any sanctioned field hockey activity in BC.

For this year, FHBC fees are valid from July 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022, and they will be due before you begin any Hawks programs. They are valid for any FHBC-member program including at other clubs and FHBC/FHC programs. Proof of FHBC registration will be required in the form of an uploaded copy of the receipt in order to register for all Hawks programs.

FHBC registration is available here (start the process by searching for your existing #, which stays with you each year):
