Spring Elite Teams

Spring  Elite Teams (SET) are the Hawks’ high-performance option that are offered each spring season.

While regular spring league is focused on having fun with your friends, being social with hockey, and competing for the love of the game, SET teams are for the athletes who want extra high-performance hockey and an elite training environment.

These teams, usually one per two-year age group, compete in the Vancouver Youth League with other clubs.

Teams can only name 18 athletes for each Youth League game, so selection is done by the coaching staff every week.

Teams are capped a 18 athletes, but each SET team operates with a slightly larger training squad.

Selections from the larger squad will be made on a week-by-week basis and will depend on availability, attendance, performance, and position requirements.

SET teams will also be the Hawks representatives in the Tier 1 division of the Club Championships (in May/June) and the India Club Tournament in June.
Participation in these tournaments is an expectation of participation in the SET program, with selections from the larger squad made weeks in advance.
For tournaments, those players not selected will likely have the opportunity to join other Hawks players on Tier 2 teams within those tournaments.

Players interested in the SET teams are invited to attend an assessment session prior to the commencement of the season.

The assessment session is free of charge and an expectation of participation in the SET program.

If numbers exceed our squad limit, selections for participation will be made after the assessment. The squads for each age group will be selected by the coaches of these teams plus club head coach Matthew Sarmento as an independent evaluator.

Once selected, a registration link will follow.

NOTE - once players are selected, any players already registered & paid will have appropriate adjustments made.
