The Hawks 2 team took to the field in a downpour without their entire midfield. Michelle K. (broken finger - thanks for coming to cheer us on), Jen Close ( mummy brain on overdrive had to go back home for her mouthguard) and Monica W. (went to UBC - no comment on her excuse!). Defenders and forwards helped out with the mid-field until our terrific mid-field players arrived.
As quickly as the downpour started it was gone and the game was played mostly in sunshine. The game was scoreless against the second place SFU team but had a lot of action in both circles.
The Hawks forward line was defintely challenged by the strong, well skilled SFU defenders. A few long runs by Katrina H., Safia M. and Megan D. resulted in some very close chances by the team.
In the defensive circle the Hawks short corner team was able to fend off several short corner attempts.
Once again the Hawks 2 squad proved they are in contention to compete in the Divisional play-offs.
Congratulations to Dayna M. who will be taking a break from the team to have a baby. Good luck!
