Volunteering
The Vancouver Hawks Field Hockey Club is a volunteer based organization. We need your involvement to ensure our success. There are many opportunities and these opportunities depend on your interests and if you are a player or a parent. Volunteer opportunities exist from cutting oranges for your child’s team to joining the Hawks Board of Directors.
Finding a volunteer opportunity starts first with you! What are your interests? How do you want to be involved in your sport? Are you willing to volunteer with the junior program or the senior program? Are you willing to attend workshops or training?
If you are interested in volunteering, but aren't sure where to begin, try asking yourself the following questions to determine what kind of volunteer opportunities will be best suited to you:
- If you had all the human and financial resources in the world, what problem would you solve, what would you change or what would you create? Your answer will tell you what matters the most to you.
- What kind of time commitment are you willing to make? Are you looking for a regular/ weekly volunteer commitment or a short-term/one-time opportunity?
- Would you like to volunteer with other people or by yourself?
- Would your like to volunteer with the junior program or with the senior program?
- Would you like to volunteer from your own home or would you prefer to volunteer at an activity or event?
- Do you have specific skills or talents you would like to share with an organization? Would you like to develop a specific skill?
If you are ready to get involved, here are some of the opportunities for you to consider:
- Age Group Coordinator.
- Manager of a team.
- Coach or assistant coach.
- Umpire.
- Sort, organize or distribute uniforms.
- Sort, organize or distribute equipment.
- Sort, organize or distribute first aid equipment.
- Work at social functions or tournaments.
- Join the Board of Directors.
- Web site contributor.
You can volunteer during our online registration or contact the office.
We welcome High School Age players to work off their volunteer hours for Trek, CAP, CASS and Duke of Edinburgh award. Contact the office to make arrangements.
