U15-U18 Girls

U15, U16, U17 and U18 Girls 2009 Spring Season - For girls born in 1995 and 1992.

Early Bird Online registration begins November 1st, 2009. Regular fees apply February 1st, 2010. First practices are the week of March 29th. First League games are the week-end of April 10/11th.  Last league games are the week-end of June 19th/20th.

The Hawks U15, U16, U17 and the U18 girl’s teams play in the Greater Vancouver Junior Field Hockey League. Teams play 11 aside games on field turf. Practices times are selected by the coach and can be at one of 3 possible turf fields, Hamber Field (35th and Oak,) Wright Field (UBC) and Livingstone (downtown next to GM Place). Teams will have an opportunity to play in the U16 or U18 BC Club Championships, usually held in June in the Lower Mainland.

Spring League Details

Team size and roster

Teams play 11 aside with goalies. Girls U15-I18 teams typically carry a rosters of 16-18 players.  Teams are tiered into two divisions: Tier 1 “Experienced players” and Tier 2 “New to the game players”. The Club Administrator, Age Group coordinator and previous year’s coaches will set the rosters. There is a place during online registration where requests can be made. 

Uniforms and equipment

The Hawks Club uniform is Red or White Shirts, Black Skirts and Red Socks. Socks are included with the fees. Players will be lent a club shirt for the duration of the season. A $50 post-dated cheque will be collected by managers at the beginning of the season and will be given back upon the return of the shirt. Players must purchase their own black skirt to be worn for the 2010 season and all other seasons that the player is with Hawks. Skirts cost $40 and can be purchased online during the registration system or from team managers at the beginning of the season.  Players must wear good quality runners, shin guards and a molded mouth guard. Games

Games are 35 minute halves with a 5 minute break in between. All home games will be at Hamber or Wright Fields on Sundays. Players will be required to travel to away games. Hawks teams compete against club teams from Surrey, Burnaby, West Vancouver, Coquitlam and Delta. Most away games will be on Sundays.

Umpires

Umpires will be provided by the club. There is a Club Umpiring coordinator who will ensure two umpires are at every game. Occasionally the coordinator will ask a coach to fill in as umpire. They will be contacted before game time.

Other Opportunities for U15-U18 Players:

Players in this age group will be eligible to participate in the Summer and Spring Break Camps at Eric Hamber with Private Coaching Companies Total Field Hockey and Skill Sets.  

Players can participate in the 2009/2010 Senior Women’s League. Please see the Juniors Playing Seniors link for more information.

In the fall of 2010 players born in 1995 and 1994 can participate in the U16 BC Regional Program. Players born in 1993 and 1992 can participate in the U18 BC Regional Program. Try outs for both programs are typically in October.  Please see Field Hockey BC Regional Programs for more information.

Players will also be able to participate in the Hawks PLUS Girls Skill and Tune-up. Registration for the program will begin Sept. 1st, 2009.  Check the Hawks PLUS page frequently for new program details.
