Coach Education

Overview

Hawks are committed to helping coaches and umpires learn and develop through their careers and coach education is an important part of this. 

We are currently running the following coaching courses in partnership with FHBC, and as part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP):

FUNdamentals Coaching Course

This is an entry level course, suiting all community and club level coaches.  Covering essentials such as field hockey practice planning and some key coaching and learning essentials, this course is particularly tailored to the FUNdamentals stage of athlete development.  

Who should take this course? 
New and inexperienced field hockey coaches who want to learn the basics of coaching and of field hockey.

By the end of this course 
Once you have completed the course, you will have obtained a "Trained" status in the Fundamentals / Community Course.

Date: Tues Oct 17th, Fri Oct 20th, 
Tues Oct 24th, Fri Oct 27th

Location: Tuesdays - FHBC Offices, 202-210 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Y 3W2
Fridays, - Eric Hamber field, Oak Street

Time: 6 - 9pm Tues 
5:30 - 8:30pm Fri

Cost: $90 for Hawks Members*

*The club will reimburse half the cost of the program ($45) upon receipt of proof of certification and completion of one Hawk’s coaching commitment of no less than 6 coaching sessions (either Junior or Senior).

Learn2Train Coaching Course

This course covers the technical and coaching pedagogy essential to the developing coach and focuses specifically on the delivery of sessions to athletes within the Learn to Train stage of development to which technical mastery is of primary importance.

Who is this course for? 
Coaches working with young people who want to develop the technical proficiency of their coaching to deliver fun and safe sessions to improve their athletes technical ability.

By the end of this course
In Coaches’ Association of Canada (CAC) Terminology, you will have obtained “Trained” status.
