Friday Night Specialty Skills Sessions for Hawks Boys and Girls Field Hockey Players.
Friday evenings at Eric Hamber Field.
When: 5:00-6:30 PM
Dates: 5 sessions: April 16,23,30 and May 7,14.
Cost: $60 for all 5 sessions. You must have your FHBC membership.
Details:
Shiaz Virjee (past National Men's and Women's Canadian Coach) and Andrew Schouten from Total Field Hockey will coach.
A maximum of 10 athletes per coach at the training sessions.
The training sessions focus on the latest techniques and skills:
- Ball possession & control
- Sweep hits
- Air dribble , one hand dribble
- Elimination skills e.g. Drags left and right
- Open stick dummies, lift open stick
- Shooting – squeeze shots, tomahawk, flick
- Rebounds, chip shot
- Aerials
- Defensive skills – tackling – poke, flat stick
- Reverse stick, channeling
- Leads and tactical use of space, creating space.
